Yes, abortion in Argentina is legal. Access to voluntary pregnancy termination is not only legal, but also considered a right. The Law 27.610 states that abortion is legal, safe, free, and voluntary. It is in effect nationwide, across both public and private healthcare systems, including prepaid health plans and social security health services. Everyone, regardless of their gender identity, nationality, age, or any other circumstance, has the right to decide whether to terminate a pregnancy, to undergo the procedure, and to access Healthcare providers must offer respectful treatment, clear and precise information, privacy, and confidentiality while respecting the patient's autonomy. In any case, the abortion procedure must be guaranteed within the first ten (10) days of the request.Additionally, post-abortion care and access to contraception must be provided.
