safe2choose is growing and expanding, so we need more bright and experienced people to help us accomplish our mission – increase access to safe abortion information, counselling and quality abortion pills in more countries.

safe2choose, a social not for profit venture established in August 2015, is committed to addressing the barriers to safe abortion by educating women on how to access/use abortion pills responsibly through the internet and other modern ways of communication as well as by making abortion pills more widely available and affordable using postal services. Currently safe2choose website is available in 6 languages (English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Polish and Portuguese) and we have social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc) in most of those languages, including one specifically for Africa.

Communications and Partnership Assistant for Asia

About the Communications and Partnership Assistant Position:

A huge and fundamental part of what safe2choose.org does is related to information sharing, partnership building with local organizations and individuals and how we communicate with stakeholders (donors, international, regional and local organizations). To better relate with our clients from all over the world, it’s mandatory that we understand and respect cultural aspects, as well as each country’s context and people different needs. Therefore, we make use of different communications channels and techniques to get our message across, let people know we exist and to discover how we can help or collaborate with them.

With guidance from the Communications and Partnership Manager, the Communications and Partnership Assistant will have the opportunity to develop safe2choose onto a well-respected brand and trusted provider globally, increasing our conversion rates and the traffic to our website, developing an innovative ways to deliver our message and improving the engagement of followers and fans on social media and building a high standard network of partnerships.

The job:

With overall guidance and support from the Communications and Partnership Manager and in cooperation with other communications and partnerships team members, the Communications and Partnership Assistant for Asia will create, develop, execute, manage, monitor and evaluate all of safe2choose’s local communications, public relations, promotion and partnerships. Our aim is to always expand our reach geographically and programmatically.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications:

  • Help develop, execute, monitor and evaluate a smart and creative communications strategy (SEO, PR, Social Media, Advertising, Blog Posts, content creation, campaigns development, etc.) for your region, aiming to increase traffic, engagement and conversion;
  • Build strategic partnerships with international, regional and local women’s health/rights organizations on promotion, service delivery, legal support and distribution;
  • Identify, engage and maintain healthy relations with key influencers/media;
  • Act as Public Relations/spokesperson focal point for your region or entire organization when required;
  • Produce content, build campaigns, write press releases, newsletters, blog posts, reports, and whatever content my be needed or requested;
  • Be creative and foresee new communications trends and tools;
  • Anticipate and be prepared to respond to and to manage crisis;
  • Constantly document what works and what doesn’t;
  • Assist with interaction with creative agencies;
  • Work with internationally based staff remotely (via email, phone and web conferences);
  • Provide regular progress updates;
  • Any other duties as requested by the line manager.

Website Management:

  • Regularly review, correct and update the website content;
  • Continuously search for relevant content in English and languages you handle to be shared;
  • Create and translate content as required;
  • Actively provide feedback to the website building and design;
  • Any other duties as requested by the line manager.

Social Media:

  • Producing local content to social media accounts under your responsibility;
  • Contributing to all social media communications strategic planning;
  • Daily monitoring of social media channels to ensure content is being posted as per calendar and guidelines are being followed;
  • Actively build relationship with users from the social media accounts you handle;
  • Identifying any potential issues;
  • Checking in with other social media team members, offering advice and help when needed;
  • Leading the process and contributing to content development and campaign ideas as per safe2choose’s content strategy and needs;
  • Helping the social media team with content curation and community engagement;
  • Researching new quotes and statistics to include in updates and infography;
  • Identifying influencers and ensuring regional media lists are kept up-to-date;
  • Ensuring all safe2choose social media profiles stay relevant, updated and correctly branded;
  • Monitoring growth and engagement rates across all safe2choose’s social media channels;
  • Making recommendations as to how safe2choose’s social media strategy might be improved;
  • Being prepared to act as the point of call during crisis situations;
  • Preparing weekly, monthly and annual reports;
  • Any other duties as requested by the line manager.

Partnership building:

  • Regular search for new partners and supporters willing to support safe2choose’s mission on promotion of services, product distribution, legal support, post-abortion care service delivery and volunteer positions;
  • Strengthen existing partnerships with local feminist, health providers, youth-friendly and legal experts groups;
  • Any other duties as requested by the line manager.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in communications, marketing, advertising or any related field combined with relevant work experience;
  • Higher degrees are encouraged;
  • At least 3 years work experience in running communication campaigns/strategies;
  • International experience is preferable;
  • At least 3 years previous experience working in global health, women’s health/rights, human rights and
  • social justice is preferable;
  • Fluent in English and other Asian language is essential;
  • Working knowledge of other languages (Burmese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Malay, Tagalog, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese) would be ideal;
  • Candidates must be located in Asia. Residents from Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand or Vietnam are strongly preferred;
  • To encourage the diversity of our team, preference will be given to women with non-white background and LGBTQs;
  • Must be able to travel local and internationally on specific occasions;
  • Must have independent access to a computer and strong Internet connection.

Compensation: This 12 months-contract full-time position (40 hours/week) will receive a monthly salary dependent on the experience level and availability of funds. Renewal is dependent on funding.

Part Time Medical Abortion Counselors

Counselors are responsible for assisting our users via live chat and email by providing information about safe medical abortion. Counselors will work virtually, but should be in constant communication with all the safe2choose team.

All counselors, regardless of their profile, will receive a full training before assisting our users. Regularly, safe2choose offers additional trainings to deepen their knowledge and skills.

* Work schedule will be defined according to candidate’s availability and safe2choose needs

Minimum qualifications:

  • immediate availability to work 10 hours per week
  • proficiency in written English and at least one of the following: French, Hindi, Swahili, Amharic, Arabic, Tagalog and Farsi.
  • excellent grammar and spelling skills in both languages
  • experience in sexual and reproductive health
  • ability to work without supervision
  • excellent communication skills
  • must have a computer with stable Internet connection

Desirable qualifications:

  • proficiency in a third language (written): Portuguese, French, Hindi, Swahili, Amharic, Arabic and Farsi
  • experience in counseling
  • knowledge of medical abortion
  • experience in abortion services
  • studies in Gender and/or Feminism, especially related to women’s health

Web Developer

About the Position

safe2choose is growing rapidly and is forming a team to help us grow. One of the most important parts of our structure is the website, therefore, one of the most important tasks of this position is to maintain this web and make improvements that not only include the development front-end, also the knowledge of metrics, APIs, integration with social networks, responsive design and security protocols. It will have responsibility and autonomy to bring fresh ideas to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internationally based staff via email, and phone.
  • Report directly to Senior Developer in Mexico.
  • Use the tools specified for task management
  • Give feedback to the team about different solutions
  • Assist and develop tools.
  • Provide full-time maintenance to the website
  • Strict adherence to the security and data management policies defined.
  • Availability to respond in emergency situations
  • Flexibility to have occasional meetings outside work hours with the rest of the team based internationally.
  • Remain informed about other relevant projects worldwide.
  • Provide regular progress updates.

Qualifications

  • University degree in computer science, informatics, etc, or at least three years work experience in website/mobile development.
  • +3 years of experience building layouts with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • +3 years working with MVC frameworks for web like Ruby, Laravel, PHP.
  • Experience with the following: WordPress, Git, SSH, DB management, Front-end framework, Stylesheet preprocessor, Designing software and Responsive design
  • Desireble experiencie with: Google Analytics, APIs, Zotonic, PGP, design skills or sys admin.
  • Fluent in English or Spanish. Working knowledge of other languages (French, Arabic, Portuguese etc) is a plus.
  • Located in México City
  • Must have independent access to a computer and internet.
  • Interest in social justice and / or reproductive rights is a plus.
