Can I use Misoprostol that comes with Diclofenac?

There are pills that contain Misoprostol and Diclofenac, one of the most common brand names of this medication is Oxaprost. If you bought this combined medication consider the following:

  • If you use the pills sublingual or buccaly you should not swallow the remains of the pills after having them 30 minutes in your mouth. The part of the pill that will be absorbed is Misoprostol and the part that you will spit is Diclofenac. It is important that you do not swallow the part that contains Diclofenac so you do not exceed the recommended dosage of Diclofenac. If you do not spit it out you can get intoxicated by the excess of Diclofenac.
  • We do not recommend you to use this combined medication in your vagina as it is less effective. If you still want to use them this way you will need first to separate the Misoprostol from the Diclofenac. This will result in having many pieces of the pills all of which you will need to insert in your vagina. This can be complicated and can decrease the efficacy if any of the pieces get lost. Also, Misoprostol placed in your vagina can leave visible traces which can be detected if you need to seek medical care afterwards.
